AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE YOUNG LEARNER!
Healthy child development and learning starts early. That’s why we offer an early childhood education program that helps children learn the essential skills they’ll need later on. Our certified, trained, supportive staff work to help everyone have the best possible start in their education!
The Y Preschool allows children to: grow personally, clarify values, develop specific skills, improve personal & family relationships, and become better leaders. Our early learners become instilled with the YMCA’s mission of developing the spirit, mind and body of each individual and encouraging an atmosphere of cooperation, mutual respect, and a safe environment for all.
A combination of Emergent Curriculum, Montessori learning concepts/materials and theme-based planning is used in our classrooms. We balance teacher‐planned and child‐initiated learning, emphasizing responsiveness to children’s strengths, interests, needs, and learning styles all while preparing them for the next stage in their education path. The curriculum includes activities such as large and small group activities/projects, dramatic play, language, science, math, social studies, music and movement, art, cooking, and large and small motor development. The environment is carefully and purposely designed to encourage active participation by children of all ages and developmental abilities. There are learning opportunities to be had in everything we do, whether we’re inside our classroom actively engaged in the many learning centers we have available, or outside on our playground!
