The Functional Fitness Workshop will explore and show participants exercises that mimic the movements of daily activities like: walking, squatting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Three key elements of functional fitness for seniors are balance, mobility, and strength. Improving this helps seniors: Reduce the risk of falling; Make activities of daily living easier; Boost emotional health.

Our What’s For Dinner? Cooking for One presentation with Hannah O’Shei, UMass Dietetic Intern, will introduce easy and healthy recipes to cook for yourself. Lunch (soup) will be provided. You must pre-register at the Welcome Center or call 413-773-3646.

Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance (MBB) is a balance improvement program that uses a variety of movements and techniques designed to train balance and movement control for daily life activities. The program consists of 8 core movement forms and movement drills that progress throughout the series of classes. Regina R. Kaufman, PT, EdD, MS, Board Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy will be here to present this demonstration. Classes to begin in November at the Y – try it before it starts!

Our Hero’s Celebration: 90 year old Birthday Party is the culmination of the week! Join us in the Social Room as we celebrate all our nonagenarians!! Learn how you can benefit from a free Y membership now that you are 90 (or older)! Cake will be served.

ENHANCE®FITNESS is a senior exercise program designed to decrease falls and improve daily activity. Work on flexibility, balance, strength training, and aerobics. Helps with arthritis.
