FCY offers a variety of special events for adults, kids and families. This includes one-day trainings as well as classes or specialized certifications.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

There is a critical need for lifeguards around the country – NOW is the time to get your certification!

Perfect for strong swimmers 15 and up. Must be proficient in:
• Front Crawl • Breast Stroke • Side Stroke
• Elementary Back Stroke • Treading Water (legs only for 2 minutes)
• Swim 550 yards continually (waterfront/lifeguard)
• Swim 300 yards continually (lifeguard)
• Retrieve 10 lb brick from bottom of pool

PRE-COURSE swimming assessment (optional) contact Aquatics Director to schedule.

ONLINE COURSE (approximately 10 hours) must be successfully completed with a passing score on the CPR/First Aid exam prior to attending the in person skills training. Learning link will be provided upon registration.

LIFEGUARDING IN-PERSON SKILLS TRAINING (approximately 25 hours)

  1. April Break Intensive Course: Monday 4/17 – Friday 4/21 (MWF 2-7pm, TTH 1-6pm) 
  2. Spring Session 2 Course: Sundays 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 6/4, 6/11 (1:30- 6:30 pm) 
  3. Summer Intensive Course: TBD- If inquiring about another course please email Karma Phillips

Must attend all skills classes to receive certification.

Bench For Hope: Bench Press Competition

This power-lift style bench press competition (for bragging rights!) is for participants to try to lift their maximum bench press weight over the course of 3 individual lifts. All proceeds will benefit Project New Hope.

We will host a food drive leading up to the event where all donations will go towards food pantries supplied by Project New Hope.

What is Project New Hope? Project New Hope provides wellness resources for veterans and their families, at no cost to the families. They offer food pantry services across Massachusetts, as well as transfer services to help returning veterans connect the dots of everyday life.

Fee to compete: $10 for members, $20 for non members.
