Gymnastics
Gymnastics classes for children and families focus on enhancing basic body movement, coordination, and muscle development by developing balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and endurance. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abdominal muscle groups.
We are thrilled to introduce our new gymnastics program to our community this year. Please be aware that previous classes were structured differently, and children who may have participated without guardian involvement may not have been prepared. Kindly adhere to our new program’s participation guidelines.
Our USAG-certified gymnastics Club provides gymnastics programs for individuals at all levels, from beginners to advanced. All of our gymnastics staff members are highly trained and hold certification as USAG gymnastics instructors.
Enrollment: Our classes are thoughtfully designed to cater to the individual needs of each child. Our gymnastics program takes into account various crucial factors, including the developmental stages of physical, emotional, social, and cognitive aspects at the time of enrollment. Each gymnast will be placed in the course corresponding to their age at the time of enrollment. In the event that their birthday falls within a session, they will be scheduled to enroll in the subsequent course during the next session.
For drop off: Parents are kindly asked to accompany their children to the Gymnastics Center door and assist them in storing their socks, shoes, coats, and any other belongings in the designated blue cubbies located outside the Gymnastics Center. Please advise your child that chewing gum is not allowed, as it poses a choking hazard. Only children are allowed inside the gymnastics room during classes. Thank you for your cooperation.
Where can I watch my child during class: You can watch your child on the mezzanine, accessible by the staircase or elevator next to the Gymnastics Center door.
Appropriate Attire:The preferred attire for gymnastics is a leotard with or without shorts, or tight-fitted shorts and a compression shirt (spandex). This is important to ensure that the skin is not exposed during gymnastics activities, as bare skin at the midsection can lead to severe abrasions. Please note that dance leotards with skirts are not suitable or permitted for gymnastics class. Loose clothing such as pants, leggings, dresses, skirts, or clothing with buttons and zippers is not safe during gymnastics classes, as it can get wrapped around equipment and inhibit coaches’ ability to properly spot children. It’s also important to for gymnast not wear jewelry, except for studs in the earlobes.
Please see our NEW Gymnastics apparel for sale located at the front desk!! We have beautiful leotards, shorts, unisex sports shirts, and scrunchies!!
Hair: Please ensure that children’s hair is pulled back and away from their eyes for safety reasons. It’s important to note that we do not offer hair ties for children. If a child’s hair is not tied back, they will not be allowed into the Gymnastics Center. Keeping hair off the face is a safety precaution for all gymnasts, regardless of the hair length. Thank you for your cooperation.
Hydration: We are a water-only gymnastics center. We do not have a water fountain, so gymnasts must bring their own water bottles. We do not provide cups for the children, so please remember to bring your child a water bottle! Bottles must have lids. Coaches will allow for water breaks during classes.
Please remember the following rules for Gymnasts using the gym:
1. No shoes and socks, no loose-fitted clothing.
2. Keep hair tied up at all times.
3. No gum or food allowed.
4. No running or screaming.
5. Ask to use the restroom for safety reasons.
6. When the coach is speaking, no talking is allowed.
7. Gymnasts must not touch equipment unless instructed by the coach.
8. Respect the equipment – do not throw, scratch, or pull things off the equipment.
9. The foam pit is for fun and learning new skills – please do not throw foam blocks as it can be dangerous and cause injury.
10. Please avoid picking feet/body for hygiene and health reasons.
For the safety and well-being of all participants, please adhere to the following guidelines while accompanying gymnasts:
1. Wear only socks, no shoes are allowed.
2. Socks must be worn at all times within the Gymnastics facility.
3. Consumption of gum, food, or drinks (excluding unsweetened and colored water) is strictly prohibited.

8. The foam pit is intended for skill refinement and enjoyment. Avoid throwing foam blocks to prevent potential injury.
9. Do not throw the gymnast into the foam pit and refrain from picking feet/body for hygiene and health reasons.
10. Active guardian participation is expected in all classes where guardians are present, including assisting the gymnast through courses and stations.
11. Please leave food and beverages outside of the center unless it is a water bottle win s secure lid.
Missed Classes: When a payment is made for a spot in a YMCA class, it guarantees the gymnast’s placement in that class, regardless of attendance. Should a class be missed, the tuition fees are non-refundable and cannot be credited or prorated under any circumstances, including illness, vacation, holidays, or snow days. Missed classes are not eligible for refunds. Please note that we cannot guarantee make-up classes due to availability, staffing, and space constraints.
When you pay for a session, you are paying for the 7-week duration of that specific class at the designated time and day. Just so you know, make-up classes on other days or times are not permitted due to participant ratios and safety considerations.
If you have any questions about where your child best fits, please contact the Gymnastics Director, Mirasia, at [email protected]
If a participant opts to discontinue their involvement in the program for reasons either specified or unspecified and is seeking a refund, we kindly request that they review our YMCA refund policy before reaching out to a member of the gymnastics staff.
