John Taylor: Shelburne Fire Department Chief

We’ve been Y members for a number of years – our kids enjoyed preschool and gymnastics, we participated in family fun nights, and made some attempts at starting a fitness routine.  My wife Sherry was far more diligent than I.

Which is more important – longevity or the quality of one’s life?  That was the key question to start off 2024.  If I wanted to improve my odds for either it would require a change.  We toured the Y in February 2024, received instruction in the Cybex circuit and we were on board.  With great thanks to my trainer and friend Tristan and other members and staff for their continuing encouragement and guidance I now have a more broad fitness routine, genuinely feel better every day, and hopefully improved my odds for that long, strong and mobile future.

I’m pleased to report that I have learned that the Franklin County YMCA is not only a great fitness option – it is a vital community asset with many choices and activities for all ages.
