Scott’s Story: Brain Surgery to Fitness Journey

YMCA Exercise Trainer Sue introduced me to the Cybex and cardio rooms, and I quickly found myself hooked. Being able to work out at my own pace, doing what felt right for me, really supported my motivation. Barb and Heidi at the Welcome Center were always friendly and helpful, and many of the members have been just as welcoming.

Since joining, I’ve averaged more than five visits a week and am in better physical and mental shape than I’ve been in 30 years. I’ve always been community-oriented – as a member of the Franklin Community Co-op for 46 years and a volunteer at Stone Soup Café for the past 2.5 years. Now, Franklin County’s Y has deepened my connection to the community even further.

At 75 years old, it’s incredibly reassuring to find a new place that feels like home. I highly recommend becoming a member at any age for all that the Y has to offer. I found even more community here than I ever expected.”
